Week 5 – Dandelion Yellow

The colour of dandelions – a very appropriate colour for Spring.
The English name, dandelion, is a corruption of the French dent de lion meaning “lion’s tooth”, referring to the coarsely toothed leaves.

Week 7 – Russet

The first recorded use of russet as a colour name in English was in 1562. The name of the colour derives from russet, a coarse cloth made of wool and dyed with woad and madder to give it a subdued grey or reddish-brown shade. By the statute of 1363, poor English people were required to wear russet.
