Pantha’s Top 10 shops & more

I have to thank my good friend Pantha for sharing something of her SL experience…

Hi I’m Pantha 🙂 I have been on SL since February 2008 and have loved it (well most of it! lol)

I love SL because of so many reasons – primarily my sl hubby and friends which is really what this is for me, a social vehicle.   Because SL is a world where you can do so many things that just aren’t feasible in RL i have tried out quite a few things…….from stripper to photographer to club owner.  I am also a part-time mermaid 🙂

I have had 3 relationships on here and my current relathionship has been 8 months of heaven (and counting!!) the other two are easily forgotten.  I think people either harden to SL, get on with it and have fun or they take it very seriously, get hurt and realise that SL is just RL but with sexier people in it lmaoo.

So i say try everything at least once :), protect yourself and others as we are all people inside the avatar and have a great time!!  Below are some of the places i have visited and landmarks – go check them out!!!

1) TWIN TOWERS – A very moving experience

2) STATUE OF LIBERTY – So well made – can sit up the top 🙂

3) TUNNEL OF LIGHT – Awesome experience – share a teacup or go the ride alone 🙂

Whilst checking out these locations, found that Tunnel of Light no longer exists 😦

4) Carnival of Carnivorous Clowns

Pantha also gave me a notecard with her Top Ten Shops…. I couldn’t believe it when I saw that 2 of her Top Ten were also 2 of my favourite stores in SL (Dutch Touch & Deviant Kitties) lol

1. Twisted & Spoiled
2. Sassy Kittens
3. League
4. Deviant Kitties – For Hair
5. Redgrave – Skins and Clothes
6. Dutch Touch
7. Shabby Chic
8. Talon Faire – Eyelashes
9. Dahlinks – Jewellery
10. Elle et Lui

Thanks again Pantha 🙂 ….. I will be checking out the stores soon lol

Hippy

My friend Evie posted this comment on my last bog…..  Love the new layout of your blog babes, looks really cool. You should take your pictures a bit closer to the avs tho to show a close up on the outfit 🙂

Ok sorry about the pics but I’m slowly getting better taking high-res snaps in SL 😉

I had been listening to some Simon & Garfunkel the other day, and their music has a folksy kind of quality to it.  It reminded me of the 1969 Woodstock Festival (NO I am not that old lol) and the hippy style of dress which was popular in the 1960s. Also I was a little influenced by the most recent post on the Shiny Things blog….

I have a few more retro pieces of clothing in my SL wardrobe, which I hope to blog sometime 😉 …. I just love the style & cut of some of the 1960s & 1970s clothing.

SL had been giving me hassle over rezzing my clothes, ie unbaked textures, so that tops etc appear grey 😦  This means I have to either switch layers or change into a new outfit.

So I thought I would blog my new current outfit…. The clothes come from my favourite shop for things grunge/urban, Dutch Touch.

New outfit

As I was not feeling tired and having some serious RL issues going on at the mintue, I thought I would log into SL for a bit.

One of my favourite shops in SL is one which my SL sister, Sapphirre, took me to when I decided to get some good quality stuff….. Don’t get me wrong, freebies are offered in one way or another in SL through outlets giving away all the merchandise for free or less than 10L$, through to Midnight Mania boards and lucky chairs. I know some people in SL that thrive on getting freebies 🙂

To cheer myself up, I went to Dutch Touch, and got  some new things. So I thought I would blog one of the dresses I got.

SKINS IN SL (part 3)

Going from a store that I don’t know much about to one which I could consider to be one of my top SL stores, KC Fashions. At KC Fashions you will find Apex. (Please note that the link will land you at the New Releases Section of  the store. Apex can be found on the ground floor.)

Trinity by Apex - makeups 4 & 5
Trinity by Apex – makeups 4 & 5

Apex specialise in skins that are suitable for roleplay,as the individual skins are white or really pale (like Trinity as seen in the above picture), natural tones, and dark tones.

Each skin comes in 10 makeup options, and the demo skins are free. Each skin also come in 3 options, Brazillian, Natural and Bare. Some skins are on sale for 650 L$ or for 800L$.

To end my tour of SL skins is Emporio Caproni. I was introduced to this store my SL sister about 3 weeks after I had first arrived in SL. At that time I had thought that spending 800L$ on skin was expensive. This store is on two floors and there are teleporters to the first floor where more skins are on sale and where you can find the changing room.

To the left of the entrance is a small area selling v1 & v2 skins. These come as fatpacks only, and the demos are 1L$.

On the groundfloor, each skin comes in 6 different makeups (3 red and 3 pink). The demos are available for free and come as packs of all 6 makeups.

On the first floor, the skins come in 4 skin tones: Honey, Peach (pictured below), Caramel (see below) and Chocolate.

As shown in the pictures the skins come with 9 different makeups and fatpacks of 3 makeup options can brought, either as softs, mediums or darks, or all reds, pinks or purples.

On a personal note, all the skins I have brought I have worn once or twice, perhaps more, and I have brought skins that I have ended up binning because I didn’t like them any more, thus wasted money 😦 .

I hope that you can make a more informed opinion of the next skin that you want to get and therefore not waste alot of money on something that you will end up hating later on.

SKINS IN SL (part 2)

I was only introduced to Belleza by a friend in SL when both of us were at our favourite SL nightclub. The conversation in local chat turned into one about skins. My friend had said that she had spent 1800L$ on 2 skins from the Brooke Collection at Belleza. I was blown away at the amount she had spent, and thought I must check out this store.

When arriving at Belleza, you land in a large open atrium. To the right is the section for the men, and to the left, the women’s section.

Belleza Brooke Collection = SK 18
Belleza Brooke Collection = Sun-Kissed (SK) 18

Each skin comes in 4 tones, Fair, Pale, Medium and Sun-Kissed. The demo skins are free.

The Brooke Collection, which brought me to this store in the first place, has makeup options in the four tones and come in 4 skin options (freckles & shaved, freckles, shaved and “natural”). Each makeup option is on sale for 900L$.

I came away with the makeup options 16 & 18 in the Sun-Kissed skin tone of the Brooke Collection, probably the most I had spent on skins in my first year in SL.

The most expensive collection in Belleza is the Belle Collection, which  has makeup options on sale for 1200L$ and with  2 skin options (“natural” and shaved). The cheapest collection I could find was the Ema Collection with the makeup options on sale for 700L$.

Belleza also offer skin and shape packages for 1100 L$ or 1400L$ .

My SL other half, Shibari Leary, introduced me to the next store, Beauty Avatar. All the skins come in 3 different tones: Natural, Light and Bronze. The demos are available for 1L$ and each makeup option is on sale for 1000L$.

SKINS IN SL (part 1)

As I had been to Rockberry and got some really nice skins at a very reasonable price, and I had a look at the skins I had already in my inventory, it got me thinking about the skins available in SL for the female avatar.

I have found that like clothes and shoes, there are skins available to everyone in every price bracket — from the freebies to the most expensive (about 1000L$ +).

Oh yes there are 1000L$+ skins out there. Below are some of the stores that I know of, although I have no doubt there are many more that I don’t know about.

This is just a showcase of some of the skins available and I do not want to say that one particular range is good ffor everyone. Just as in RL, all avatars in SL are different. As in RL too, we invest a lot of time & energy in making our avatar selves looking good.

First on my tour is  Platinum. This is located on its own island sim, Platinum World, and the landing point is between the 2 halves of the shop…. to one side is the men’s section (sign-posted by a giant male mannequin) and on the other, the women’s section (with no mannequin).

Lucy Collection

Above are just two of the skins that Platinum has on sale. Each one is on sale for 1000L$ and the collection for 5000L$. The demos are free.

The next step in my tour is RockBerry. This is a lovely shop to visit. The skins are spread around the groundfloor of the store, with some upstairs on the firstfloor to the right.

I had come across this brand via the blog, and it was until my friend, Evelyn Hartshon, listed this as one of her top stores in SL, did I actually go to the store. Thanks Evelyn :).

I have been unable to obtain any pictures of the skins available at RockBerry. However, RockBerry (owned by Helen Beebe) has a blog and the link is in my Blogroll, where you can find details about all the available skins.

The demo skins are free. Almost all skins come with 4 different options (shaved, dark brows & shaved, dark brows and natural), and come in 4 different skin tones (light, natural tan and dark). Each skin tone has 6 different makeup options.

There are some skins available for 275L$, which come in shaved & natural, and others availble for 450L$ with all 4 options. So far RockBerry is the only store that offers skins at a reasonable price and offer a good selection of skins. I would recommend that you visit this store at some point and look for yourself.

ARGRACE (store review)

I must thank  Evelyn Hartshon for providing the information in the last blog *hugs*

I thought as I am being totally lazy today in RL & in SL,  I might check out some of the stores and so made my way over to Argrace.

How many times have any of us gone into a shop in SL, and found ourselves disliking the place, due to the surroundings….maybe the ceilings too low, small rooms etc? Well Argrace is the total opposite…..well lit and spacious rooms 🙂

As you enter the store, turn to the right and you will enter the clothes section of the store. The first part of this is Menswear and just beyond this is the Womenswear section. And at the back, is the hair section.

Argrace_001

All the items are displayed neatly and with the occasional little black bag offering a fatpack (as seen in the top right corner and on the table).

Many stores in SL offer a range of items from clothes, skins, shoes, hair and many more.  But from my own experience, these stores often neglect parts when they start to concentrate on just one item.

However, I have been pleasantly surprised by Argrace. The clothes on sale are of fine quality. But the main reason for my visit was to see why Evie said this was one of her favourites regarding hair.

Hair @ Argrace_001

In this picture, I am wearing the demo (copper) of  the Elegance hairstyle and the Long Stole (Shirring pattern) in ivory.

This hairstyle reminds me of Alice in “Alice in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll — straight with a faint wavy texture & hair band. The hairband is scripted so that you can choose one of  six colours (blue, green, brown, orange, pink & purple).   I often try the demos (where available) before buying, as I can tell from all possible camera angles if  it suits me or not.

Argrace also have hairstyles that include caps. With these, you also have the option to wear the cap alone.

All demos are available at 1L$ each, but vary in content as some (like the Elegance) have 4 demo colours or some like the cap/hair combinations have 2 (1 cap hair & 1 cap only).

Although the range of hairstyles is small, the hair is of high quality, no doubt due to the time and effort put in by the designers.

I have included the link to the Argrace blog/website in my Blogroll,  so please take a few minutes to have a look around the site and visit the store inworld…. Maybe you will come away with a thing or two or three….

Top SL places by Evelyn Hartshon

I had asked fellow SL resident and blogger, Evelyn Hartshon, about her Top 10 Stores and Favourite Places in SL.

She gladly passed me a notecard with the details.  I will be reviewing some of the stores in coming weeks — so watch this space 😉 .

If you want to know more about what Evelyn, aka Evie, is up to in  SL, please hit the link in my Blogroll for her own blog and it is well worth a look 😀
