50/52 – Mulberry

Yikes!! We’re in week 50 of Luna’s Colour Challenge, which means we have just 2 weeks left!  Luna has proposed that we do a Favourite 15 post featuring our favourite 15 colours… That might be a challenge in itself for me, as I have missed some weeks.  Back to this week’s colour….

The first recorded use of mulberry as a color name in English was in 1776. The colour takes its name from the fruit of the Mulberry bush.

A bit of summer cleaning!

Well, I couldn’t say Spring Cleaning now, right? Well, whatever! I had to sort out my ‘to blog’ folder as I had some stuff from just before my little hiatus, in particular the Seasons Hunt|Spring items and a few cheapies I had brought which I later decided not to blog.

The Seasons Hunt|Spring was a bit like a scavenger hunt, in that instead of going from store to store in a numerical order, you got a notecard list of the participating stores with landmarks and you could choose which stores to go to or not.  I went to my personal favourites…

Lucky Chairs Galore

It’s day 2 of June’s FoaB, and is made up of prizes won from lucky chairs and midnight mania boards, hence the title (sort of). I have found that depending on where the lucky chairs/boards are, E is a relatively rare letter.

The lucky chair prizes came from Violent Seduction, which is a goth store. Apparently there are 8 dresses to be won from the lucky chairs. I have 2 of these dresses to show you.

The dress on the left is called ‘Card Shark’ and includes the hat and shoes. You would not be out of place at the Court of the Queen of Hearts with this dress. The dress on the right is ‘Pirate lolita’, which includes a sword and boots (not shown). This is a perfect dress for a costume/fancy dress contest at your favourite night club or for roleplay.

The third of today’s outfit is a mix-&-match of Lark and Sassy Kitty Designs. I added the boots that I got from the DV8 lucky chair.

Got the Summertime Blues!!!!!

Inspiration for the title came from the lyric of the 1958 song by Eddie Cochran, ‘Summertime Blues’… I’m NOT that old but my love of the music from the 50′s & 60′s I can blame on my mum’s old vinyl record collection, lol.

More new stuff!!!! This time it’s hair from Alli & Ali and clothes from Sassy Kitty Designs.

Ok, we have worn their clothes, used their poses, now it’s their hair!!!! Yes, the hair I am wearing is for the guys, given that it’s called Hercules, lol. There are 3 different colours of this hair available for 0L$ or 1L$… 2 in the store inworld and 1 on Xstreet.

The outfit is made of new stuff available at Sassy Kitty Designs. The skirt is the Monday Mania item, and the top is a new release & comes in the cropped version (as seen in the picture) and in a longer version.

I was supposed to do this post yesterday but RL does have this annoying knack of getting in the way, lol. But that hasn’t stopped me from finding some fabulous free or cheap clothes for you.

First on the catwalk is a mix-&-match from one of the stores in SL I love, Sassy Kitty Designs. Like most stores, Sassy Kitty has a discount area in a little cottage next to the mainstore. There is a tp board in the mainstore for the discount section.

In the discount section I found lots of separates for 0L$ to 25L$. Among the various goodie bags I found was a fatpack of 3 strapless tops in black, grey & white for 1L$ and a fatpack of boobtube tops in black, grey, pink, purple and white for 0L$. I got the skirt from the subscribo notice history. It came in a fatpack, each skirt is black with different coloured buttons, but I have kept just the all-black skirt.

Next up is an outfit from Sn@tch. By now you will know that Sn@tch is my favourite store. ‘E’ is not a common letter for Lucky Chairs or Boards, but just a few days ago I was lucky and got the lovely Daisy Experiment fatpack

My last outfit is the May group gift from P.S. Style. This not only includes the top and shorts, but also the matching shoes. To get this you will need to join the group (no fee to pay!!!) and wear the group tag when clicking the poster.

I got the flowers with poses from Olive Juice when the store was participating in the Beautiful Bloom Event in April. Along with the flowers, I got the plain poses which means I can use my own props.

Zombies & The Alternative Fair

Well… it has been a few days since my last posting, but I was waiting for the Alternative Fair to start, as I want to mix things up a little.

The Zombie Popcorn Hunt (ZPH) is still on but you have little more than a week to do it. It is not as long as some hunts (such as Just for the Guys/Girls, Make Him Over, etc) but it isn’t a short one either… as it has 88 stores participating, with goodies all based on the  classic horror movie favourite, the zombie. You are looking for little boxes of popcorn.

I only have the one picture featuring the ZPH goodies I got… I’ll admit that I didn’t do the whole hunt, but I did get some good stuff from the stores I knew and even from one I had heard of but not been to.

As well as the ZPH offering zombieness, Ivey Deschanel (owner and creative genius behind Sn@tch) has organised the first Alternative Fair, featuring over 50 designers in punk, rock, gothic, grunge, lolli, visual kei, cyberwear and many other styles of alternative clothing, skins, hair and accessories (click here and here for more info).

When I was planning my holiday to Mexico in 2008, I found that the south of the country (which borders Guatamala, Belize & Hondorus) was a known area of malaria. I went prepared with anti-malaria tablets, insecticide repellants, and other things… However, most of the people of Africa cannot afford a simple thing like a mosquito net, let alone expensive anti-malaria medications. So if you have 10-15 mins to go to the Alternative Fair, please go even if you don’t buy anything. Around the fair there are donation boxes as well as the charity vendors, so you can always drop a few L$ into a donation box.

While I nosed around the Alternative Fair, I picked up some freebies and one dollarbie.

Double Dose

Hey!! Hope you had a great weekend.

I know it has been some time since I did a Double Dose post and while I had some piccies of Emmi hanging around on my hard drive, I decided that she, or more precisely her clothes, would be the focus of this particular post.

Emmi has 2 different outfits to show us today; both are examples of her individual sense of style. The first is a freebie that she got from Fabulously Free in SL’s HQ, provided by Out.Rage.

I don’t always go for checked patterns but the texture of the top was superb, with the realistic wrinkles on the midrif area. The skirt was included in the box and the juxtaposition of plaid and checks is a fun one, which appealed to Emmi alot.

The other outfit Emmi chose is also another freebie, this time from :WhoNose:.

This was a Midnight Mania prize and the outfit comes with a prim-part jacket to match the jeans. Emmi loved this ensamble piece because of the sparkly edging on the jeans, after which the outfit has been named.

I thought I would try to make a custom shape for Emmi, after something was said in the FabFree group chat following another member asking where they could get decent shapes. As most of us know that shapes are expensive, starting at about 500L$, making your own can be fun and also a case of trial & error, as we keep tweeking bits here and there. Some of us would perfer to get a modifiable shape at a reasonable price (and Emmi has found some for free or 1L4!!!) and modify the shape to suit us. So in the second piccy Emmi has her new shape, which she loves .
