Willow Zander (aka Willis) is doing her alphabet challenge again. I remember the challenge from the first time around. I have decided to play along with Willis. The rules are fairly simple. 21/52 – White

We’ve had various shades of brown, black (which most of my inventory consists of) or bright colours. Now it’s the turn of White!!!

The word white continues Old English hwīt, ultimately from a Common Germanic *χ^wītaz also reflected in OHG (h)wîz, ON hvítr, Goth. ƕeits. The root is ultimately from a proto-IndoEuropean *k^wid-, surviving also in Sanskrit śveta “to be white or bright”^[2] and perhaps Slavic svet’ “light”. The current Icelandic word for white, hvítur, is very closely related to the Old English and Old Norse forms of the word. Common Germanic also had the word *blankaz (“white, bright, blinding”), borrowed into Late Latin as *blancus, which provided the source for Romance words for “white” (French blanc, Spanish blanco, Italian bianco, etc.).

Like a few of my friends on Plurk, I am doing a bit of inventory clearance and organising. Pididdle & PixelDolls

MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!  to all those who follow this little blog of mine. My halls are not decked with holly & ivy but it is not the material things of Christmas that are important, but sometimes having one really nice gift can make a good Christmas great.

Over the last 12 months, the designers and creators in SL have given us fabulous gifts through their various groups, organised fabulous hunts and events for charity. If I had the time earlier I would have put together a ‘Few of my Favourite Things’ post, but in the New Year I am doing something little different on this blog. I signed up to Plurk aout 4 months ago and made friends there of other SLers, including my all-time favourite designer, Ivey Deschanel. Amongst these new friends are a few other designers/creators, and I have been asking them if they didn’t mind me asking a few questions, and happily I have had a positive response from those I have asked.

Now on to the main reason of this little Christmas post. One of my favourite stores in SL is PixelDolls. They are currently having a sale throught the store, which will end 01.01.11, so if you want something different head on over quickly. Also they have a sale section where all the items are 10L$!!!

First of my PixelDolls mix & match is a gothic set…

I had seen the skirt featured as part of an outfit on the feeds, I went to PixelDolls to get it. Whilst there in the separates department, I spotted this lovely little top, and knew that they would go together beautifully.

Next is a cute dress from the Sale Department…Stephanie in green is only 10L$! Though you can also get it in Citrus, Pink, Violet & Sky.

My boots are the House of Curios Noir boots which are texture change so you can coordinate boots to the outfit of your choice (black, silver/grey,brown, blue, red, rose and green/lime, plus 3 group exclusive textures). However, they are not cheap though at 125L$, but this is a bargain compared to some of the big name SL brands.

And my last PixelDolls outfit is a mix of sale items….

The top can be found in the sale department for 10L$ and also comes in raspberry, ocean, indigo, violet & antique. The skirt can be found in the separates department and comes with 4 skirt styles, of which I chose the Mini A Line option.

September Green

I have spent some time today checking that some of the freebies/cheapies that I have for you are still available, and also to update a notecard that Emmi has ready to pass on to anyone who is in need of it.

I have 3 outfits for you today, and first up on the catwalk is a mix of Pixel Dolls, Multiple Personality Designs (MPD) and Elymode. The shrug is part of a complete set, but can be used as a separate item & same with the included cami (not shown), and cost me only 75L$.

The pants were a freebie when Elymode reopened after a refurbishment of the mainstore. One store that I have been to when I was short on cheapies or dollarbies is Multiple Personality Designs (aka MPD). It is from MPD that I got the top, and it came with a skirt bottom (shown), alternative sculpted prim bottom (not shown) and matching green leggings (not shown).

The second outfit is a mix of OoEas! and Glam Affair (formerly Beauty Avatar). I mention this as it can be confusing if you can a folder named Glam Affair but the contents are named Beauty Avatar, and you didn’t know that Beauty Avatar was rebranded some time ago.

When OoEas! first opened, the shorty bustier was available in green (‘grass’) but now they have this lovely cherry red version as the current freebie, which you can find right next to the entrance. The Baviera pants are from Glam Affair discount section and you do need to go back once in a while as new stuff is being added.

It was from Glam Affair for the grand sum of 20L$ that I got the Capri top and the brown Baviera pants. The sneakers I got from Paw 2 Paw.

Some August Cheapies

My Fashion on a Budget miniseries is back after a break for most of August. As usual I have 3 different outfits to show you, and if some of the items are no longer available, I am sure that you can find some similar somewhere on the grid.

First up on the FoaB runway is a mix-&-match of Pixel Dolls, Tyranny Designs and Anuenue. The top from Pixel Dolls is a new release and is on sale for 75L$!! It comes in other colours and in this wonderful brocaded silk. I chose the Sage colour as I don’t have much green stuff in my SL closet

Tyranny Designs is currently have a sale to celebrate 2 years of existance on the grid. Some of the items are discounted as they are being retired and the I’m So Comfy shorts are one such item. However, the sale ends Sept 1st!!!! The boots were blogged elsewhere in cyberspace (and appeared on the Chic Critique feed, see the link to the right —>) and I had to get them. The boots were 60L$ per play of the Gatcha machine, which looks like a snack machine. The leg part is resizeable via a resize script and the ribbon is colour-change, and the foot part is mod via the edit menu.

Truth Hawks is currently having a sale with 50% off and sale ends Sept 3rd!!! One tip: if you want to beat the lag and crowds, visit the store on the TRUTH Hair II sim. I picked up the Alyssa hair in four colour packs @ 125L$ each.

Next up is another mix-&-match, this time of Acid & Mala, Boom and Indi Designs. Although my upper limit for cheapies is 100L$, as I know that most of you have a tight budget, I have spent slightly more on the O’Neal sneakers from Indi Designs (125L$) as these are high quality items. They can be found in the discount basement on the shelves next to the Pinta boots vendor. Also in the discount basement are 2 big boxes (1 for the boys & 1 for the girls) of 30/31 complete outfits for 1L$.

The striped tank is from Acid & Mala and come in packs of 2 colours. This one is from the Greens pack, called Forest and the other (not shown) is Moss. I paired it up with a pair of Seaman Pants from Boom, at the Creators’ Pavillion a week or so ago. Hair Only is a sim full of hair creators’ stores, and at the landing point you will find 5 large gift boxes from EMO-tions stuffed with free hair!! Also at the landing point (but behind you) are 2 other boxes. These are the Amacci freebies (in all colours).

The bangles I am wearing I got from Baubles, which is no longer in existance as the owner turned the store into an art gallery. But I know how resourseful my readers are and know that you can find something similar.

The last of today’s outfits is a mix of Kosh, Acid & Mala and Magi Take, with footwear from my favourite cheapie store, Duh!. The Acid & Mala group costs you only 10L$ to join and for that you get group only gifts. One such gift is the mini-tank, and this came in a pack of 2 colours, dark red and red.

The denim jacket is from Magi Take. I got the fatpack for 40L$, although you can get them individually at 10L$ each. The cords are from Kosh and cost me 77L$, and come in either parti-coloured (as shown) or single coloured.

Out of Time

I have been meaning to do this post for the last 2 days (lol). Someone asked on Plurk where the best locations were for taking pictures, and Nomos was suggested as a possibility. Nomos is a role-playing sim and is based on the film Blade Runner (starring  Harrison Ford). Unconsciously the anachronistic theme developed, my outfits not being historical correct for the surroundings; Nomos is a futuristic sim and Valhal is a ancient ruin based on the culture of the Vikings/Norsemen from Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

This post rounds up this month’s FoaB series. I a showcasing some of my favourites, which were free, dirt cheap (1-10L$) or cheap (10L$+). The ony thing that was real expensive is my current skin, which is from Pink Fuel (cost me 400L$).

The top is from PixelDolls. When you arrive the PD store, you will find the new releases and under the tables are 12 gift boxes containing 8 tops and 4 dresses!!

I paired the top with the hightwaisted jean skirt from Willow. I love highwaisted pants/skirts as they have a vintage feel and also they emphasise the waistline and your curves.  My favourite boots at the moment are the Shasti boots from Baby Monkey. I love them so much I go the fatpack, but the blacks/reds pack (shown in the steel colour) is available for 50L$ and are menu-driven.

Enky’s Dollar$tore is a new-to-me store, where designers from across the grid have denoted items which are available for 1L$. One such item is the hair I am wearing, which is from Exile. This comes in a fatpack!!! So you have several colour options to coordinate with your various looks of the day.

Another new-to-me place is Dark Mouse. The old pick reward items have been put out for sale at 1L$ each. They can be found outside to the left of the store entrance.

Double Dose

Hi there!

The last week has been a pain in the ass at work, and when I got back home, I was not in the mood to blog. But today I am back with the weekly Double Dose.

Usually I am dressed in my own take on the street/grunge style, but I also occasionally dress like a goth (and not necessarily in all black, lol). So I have decided to do a DD on both.

Also, this is the first of this month’s freebie/cheapie miniseries. I was given a notecard by Cali, a good friend of mine in SL who thrives on hunting down great freebies; her notecard listed some of the freebies she considered to be the best at the moment.

The first outfit is one I made from separates from PixelDolls. I found the corset whilst blog-surfing and figured that with a long, velvet skirt, it would make a great outfit. The corset comes with a white undershirt with prim puff-sleeves, which I foolishly chose not to wear. I like this corset ALOT. The silver on black is a classic combination, and the open lacing to the front is realistic and is a lovely touch.

I chose the vanilla hair decor from [glow], which I got for 50L when I visited the store to get the 50L item a few weeks ago.

The second outfit is again made of separates from different stores, Ibizarre and Sn@tch. I got the top from Ibizarre some time ago for about 100L$, as I liked the gold print design. I paired it with the black jean denim minskirt from Sn@tch (a recent new release).

The miniskirt fatpack is on sale for 250L$, and contains 6 colours (including black); I have calculated that you will be paying just over 41L$ for each skirt, and that is a bargain IMHO, and why I am classing it as a cheapie.

I am a fan of thigh high boots and have about 3/4 pairs in my wardrobe. Its a pity I can’t wear such boots in RL as I don’t have the right body shape for them. But in SL I can wear what I can’t in RL , including tattooes.  I chose my favourite pair of thigh high boots, from Crucial Creations, as the only prim parts are the soles as the uppers are on the shoe layer.

I have been to Analog Dog several times, but didn’t buy of the hair. So when Cali told me that AD had freebies, it was too good to miss. The turqouise freebie balls are to the left of the landing point. To keep with the punky/street theme, I chose the Gamma hair and modified it by unchecking the Full Bright option, which makes the colour look more realistic.
