The name of the color khaki coined in British India comes from the Hindustani language (itself a borrowed form of the Persian word khak meaning dust), meaning “dusty, dust covered or earth colored.” It has been used by many armies around the world for uniforms, including camouflage. Most notably, khaki was used by the British Army in India beginning in 1848.

Have you been Gatcha’d?

Have you been to the Gatcha Festival? No? Well, you’re missing out on some fab bargains!!!!  If you go, you best go prepared for some lag. The festival can be found here.

All the items in the gatcha vendors are no copy/transfer, so you can swap them with your friends. Also, depending on the vendors, there are rare/uncommon items, one such vendor is the fri.day Romance.cami. The cami comes in twelve colours = 6 common, 4 uncommon and 2 rare.

July’s Freebies

It’s that time again!!! I have some fabulous freebie/cheapie stuff for you. Oh, btw, Happy 4th July to all my USA friends and readers.

I kick off this month’s freebie slot with goodness from fri.day and So Many Styles. I love hunts but when it comes to unpacking the stuff and deciding what to throw in the bin or keep, that’s the bit I hate. But when I saw that fri.day are participating in the Good Sh!t Hunt, I had to hoof it on over to the store and find that little neon bottle.

The bottle contained the Lowrise.jeans in midnight…. I am so loving these jeans. I hopped over to So Many Styles on Friday to see what their FiftyLinden Friday item was, and boy! I so love this top! This combination is my current look on the grid.

Fri.day also participated in the recent FLF and had a pack of 2 halters available… Melody & Poet. With my fri.day jeans I chose the Melody halter and I did not need to adjust the prim bottom It fitted just right. D!va sent out a pack of the Chizuru hair to its group members in celebration of reaching 4000+ members.

My last outfit is a group gift from So Many Styles. The group is free to join

Again I did not need to adjust or modify the prim parts to fit my shape. The trainers are from P.S. Styles and are super comfy.

Lucky Chairs Galore

It’s day 2 of June’s FoaB, and is made up of prizes won from lucky chairs and midnight mania boards, hence the title (sort of). I have found that depending on where the lucky chairs/boards are, E is a relatively rare letter.

The lucky chair prizes came from Violent Seduction, which is a goth store. Apparently there are 8 dresses to be won from the lucky chairs. I have 2 of these dresses to show you.

The dress on the left is called ‘Card Shark’ and includes the hat and shoes. You would not be out of place at the Court of the Queen of Hearts with this dress. The dress on the right is ‘Pirate lolita’, which includes a sword and boots (not shown). This is a perfect dress for a costume/fancy dress contest at your favourite night club or for roleplay.

The third of today’s outfit is a mix-&-match of Lark and Sassy Kitty Designs. I added the boots that I got from the DV8 lucky chair.

FoaB for June

Hey there!!!!! Yes, I’m back with this month’s Budget Fashion series. June is packed to the gills with hunts and for some unknown reason, I seem to burnt out regarding hunts at the moment. But that has not stopped me from getting some great cheapies and freebies for you, thanks to the lucky chairs/boards and Midnight Manias galore in SL.

To kick off, I have a lovely casual outfit from SF Designs, which has been blogged across the feeds to death. But, hey, when it comes to freebies & cheapies, I do it my own way.

I have been wearing this lately to hop across the grid in my search to bring the best freebies & cheapies. It exemplifies Emmi’s taste perfectly… Good quality textures and casualness at its best. SF Designs has this outfit available for the whole of June for both boys and girls. The boys’ version has a white tee.

The next 2 freebies come from [ Last Period ], a large Japanese store that caters well for us girls. I had been to [Last Period] before and had forgotten how good their stuff was. Thanks, Evie for the tp. While I was there, I joined the LP Fan Group (free to join) and bagged a few of the group gifts. The room to the right of the entrance is where you will find the group stuff, you will need the group tag to get the goodies. In the room where the new releases are, there is a free-for-everyone lucky board and I will showing that prize in a late FoaB Howwever, instead of naming their items like other places do, their items are numbered.

Vintage 2

I have been in a nostalgic mood lately, and my outfit is an example of that. I had heard of Kunglers but hadn’t visited the store until last night to haunt the lucky chairs. As I waiting for the magic E to come up, I did a bit of browsing in the store, which is in 2 sections, Dresses and Mix-&-Match.

It was in the Mix-&-March section that I found this lovely top. It comes with a baby-doll type prim attachment (not shown here). It caught my eye almost immediately as it reminded me of the famous rose window designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

I paired it with the pink jeans by So Many Styles that I got from The Dressing Room ad the pink espadrilles from Duh! which had been available for free as part of the SL Pink Shirt event to highlight the serious issue of bullying.

So, I give my thanks to Mr C R Mackkintosh for his artistic work, and the creative minds at Kunglers.

Sometimes I cannot keep up with all the various blogger opportunities… Project Themeory, 50L$ Fridays, 60L$ Weekends, Bargain Hunters Paradise… But when I do get the notecards about these events, I do a quick check on who is doing what and deciding my best plan of attack is. NO! I do not pyshically attack anyone or anything. I mean that I plan my route carefully to ensure I get to new-to-me stuff, as alot of the designers I know of are in one or more of these events.

One such new-to-me store is Tres Blah. I love vintage clothing and period costume, although I do not do any roleplay. Tres Blah took part in the latest 50L$ Friday event and their item was this lovely strapless top with high-waisted shorts outfit. It has that vintage feel to it and I fell in love with it.

Fri.day has been having a summer sale, with their stuff reduced in price to 50, 75 or 100L$. When I first went to the sale, it was laggy as hell and the lag was like trying to walk through mud. What a day or two makes, lol. I went back over the weekend and the lag was still there but not like it had been. I had not tried their hair before, so this was my perfect opportunity to bag a bargain and brought 3 different hairstyles in the blacks and blondes colour packs at 75L$ each.

Oh, one more bit of news…. Apparently BluAbyss Denimore (of Vive9) is back and has set up shop again. When I went to the new (but smaller!) shop, there were 4 Vive9 bags of freebies left out. I managed to get 2 more sets of skin which I didn’t get when BluAbyss was cosing down Vive9…..

Double Dose

Welcome back.

I have not got much to say today, except that I hope that you had a great Valentine’s Day.

There will have been many posts across the SL fashion blogs on the Valentine’s Day fashions, that I have decided to show 2 diffent casual outfits.

First is a fun plaid dress called Caulfield from This is a Fawn. It comes in 5 colours, including this one called Blood, both in plaid and solid patterns.

I have a bit of a habit when it comes to my footwear….. I love boots, and have a few pairs in my SL wardrobe — thigh highs, calf length and ankle boots, in arious olours. But the pair in this picture and the next are from 7ommy Gumes, and was on offer @ 10L$ for Valentine’s Day only, so I couldn’t miss a bargain like that.

I managed to get a picture or 2 done with Evelyn Hartshon, a friend that I met a long time ago at a club owned and ran by our mutual pal, Pantha. Evie was kind enough to give me a complete styling card.

In group chat for one of the groups I belong to, someone mentioned the Red Packet Hunt. This Hunt started yesterday in honour of the Chinese New Year, and around the world Chinese people will be celebrating their New Year over the next few days (14 – 17 th Fabruary). I managed to find the starting point for the Red Packet Hunt and decided to visit before the hunters arrived in their droves, and have a look round. The store was !Ohmai, and was stocked with much cuteness.

Blue, Green or in Between??

Hi….. Question for you today.

How would do describe the following colours….turquoise and teal? Blue, Green or in between???

I like to mix and match when I can. So when my friend Cali created a new SL group for her friends who liked freebies, I didn’t hesitate to accept the invitation to join. One of the freebies she informed the group of was a set of arm warmers from Acid & Mala, in teal for 10 L$ for group members only.

I hopped along to A & M, and joined the group, then promptly brought the warmers. I asked the above question, because it would seem that what one designer calls teal is not necessarily what you or other designers would call the colour…

I will leave the picture to show why I asked the question in the first instance.
