Freebies Galore!!!

It’s day 4 of this current FoaB and I have some tasty morsels for you. More Vive9 and Zaara, plus something from Cupcakes and new goodies from Vixen Hair.

First out on the catwalk is a casual ensemble from Vive9.

I love the texturing on the sweater, with shadows in the right places and a neckline that is not too deep or low. I paired this with the Becca jeans for that day out in the park kind of look. The texturing on the jeans were great too, but the sculpted cuffs were not Emmi’s style.

I hadn’t been to Vixen Hair in ages, so was surprised to see that it had been refurbished. The lucky chairs had been restocked with new prizes, and Emmi got 4 different hairs on Sunday & Monday… ‘E’ is not a common letter on the Lucky Chairs or Boards in SL and often winning something means a lot of hanging around waiting, which can be frustrating. Given the long waits, Emmi was thrilled with her goodies. The hair shown in all the pictures is the Jasmine EspressoCurls, which is a new hairstyle recently released. Not to curly and with the right amount of bounce, a fab hair to have.

Next up is a lovely little number from Cupcakes. My previous posts that featured Cupcakes included some of their skins. However, Cupcakes also sell clothes.

Emmi won this green brocade dress from the 5 minute Lucky Chair (as there is a 2nd chair with a 2 minute wait). This was part of the old Gift Bag #5 which included a shape and a skin in 1 makeup & all tones.

Brocaded fabric is difficult to get right texture wise. But the texture of this dress is just fabulous. Luxurious brocaded velvet in a rich green, with great shadowing. This is a lovely evening dress for those semi-formal occasions.

Lastly for today at least is another evening dress, from {Zaara} called Shubh. I had a vague idea that this was an Indian name and it is. It has a meaning like all names, which is auspicious, fine. I think that it is an apt name for this dress as the detail of the patterning on the skirt and on the bodice is just exquisite and is very much based on traditional Indian designs.Unfortunately, this dress only comes in white.

I am a great fan of Zaara Kohime’s designs and Viki has a fair number of items of hers.

Double Dose / Fashion on a Budget 6

As promised, this week’s Double Dose is taking part in a mini-series about looking good on a budget.

It was during the planning for this particular post that I got the idea to do a feature on some of the freebies/cheapies available in SL, and from there it expanded to become a week-long mini-series. Whilst talking to a friend in SL, it came to me that instead of doing a one-off, I should do the minsi-series once a month.

OK, back to the post….. I challenged myself to see if I could find cheap or free outfits or fatpacks of separates, and had to be of a goth/grunge/alternative style. The answer was Sn@tch. I had been a member of the subscribe group for a few weeks, but never had a chance to have a look at the stuff on offer, so this was the perfect opportunity.

I was glad to see that Sn@tch has a freebie/cheapie section, unlike some stores in SL. It is obvious what a freebie is (anything that costs 0L$, lol); however what is more difficult to define is a cheapie. To me a cheapie is a complete outfit or a single item that costs less than 100L$; although some of you would be saying that it should be less than 50L$. Well, that’s your opinion and I respect that, but for this post, I will use my definition.

The budget I had set was 300L$. For less than 300L$ I got 5 outfits, 1 megapack and a freebie, and still had change left.

The first outfit is actually a mish-mash of  Sn@tch separates and other items in my SL wardrobe.  Fashion gone wrong??? It looks like it or I have joined the circus, lol. The tank top is from a megapack and comes shirt & jacket layers. The leggings are from another megapack (20 pairs!!!) and come on the underies layer only.

The next outfit is a complete sweater dress, although this is not the only colour available. On the notecard that comes with this outfit, Ivey states that her inspiration for this dress is a sweater that she owned in RL during the 80s.

In Sl, as in RL, I love sweaters. And when I saw this one, I had to have it and so too with the last of today’s gems from Sn@tch.

When I am looking for outfits, one thing I look for is versatility of the items (ie shirt, skirt etc) and if there multiple options included. This is true of this particular outfit, Hitchhiker, as it comes with 3 skirts (in Army, Dusk or Sunrise).

Fashion on a Budget 5

Two posts for you today….Got so pissed off with SL last night for playing ping pong with me again that I didn’t take any piccies .

I have the usual weekly Double Dose coming up later for you…this week focusing on the work of Ivey Deschanel, the name behind the Sn@tch brand. But first, I have what was meant to be yesterday’s post.

I have a Christmas outfit from Deviance, a cheapie from *BOOM* and a Down The Chimney Hunt outfit from So Many Styles.

On the Down The Chimney Hunt you can pick up some great goodies from over 90 stores around SL, but you better be quick the Hunt end 20 Dec. I didn’t do all of the Hunt, I sort of cheated and did bits of the Hunt. The DTCH goodie I want to show is from So Many Styles (SMS), and a jacket & long skirt. I have shown the two together, although you can mix and match them with other bits and pieces in your SL wardrobe.

The skirt is not like other long flexi skirts with just one sets of flexi prims; it has 3!!!! (one for each leg and a middle section) that makes it look more fuller and realistic. The belt is also included and is very hippie in style, with beads.

The second outfit I found at *BOOM* (which is located on the same sim as Modd.G), whilst I as trying to find the DTCH object. The complete outfit was 50L$ and can be found at the front of the store, on the left as you enter the store.  The necklace I am wearing with this and the SMS outfit is another DTCH goodie (from Otaku Designs) and is in 2 versions, for the chest and spine attachment points.

Come the summer I will be wearing this one a lot!!!!!! Good enough for a party at a club or down by the beach with a pair of shorts or a skirt (so may ways, lol).

And thirdly, a Christmas-themed group gift from Deviance…

The matching boots were free!! They come with 2 options, short or tall leg prims.  I love velvet, and in this purple colour, it is appropriate for this time of year. Also included with the dress are hats with or without holly and holly decoration for the chest.

Winter Warmers

Hi!! I have soup on the hob, warming winter vegetable soup with crusty bread — so help yourselves, and pull up a seat.  As it is only 4 weeks or so to Christmas, I decided not to over do the clothing, colourwise. That I will do nearer the time

I have some winter clothes to show off today, from a little store that I found in SL located on its own sim! The store is Sprawl, and it offers a nice range of tops, sweaters, jackets, trousers, jeans and some skirts, which are all available as individual colours or as fatpacks. Each item also comes with multiple layers, which to me is a big thing.

In the picture below, I’m wearing the jacker layer of this lovely knit sweater, with prim turtleneck collar and upper & lower sleeve attachments. The bottom part of the sweater is on the pant layer, with the trousers on the underpants layer.

Unfortunately, due to problems with internet, I did not have time to take a close up of the trousers. However, the grey version of the trousers had been blogged by Nissa Nightfire on her blog. Here, I am wearing the Ink version. It must be coincidence that when I was in high school, I had a pair of grey trousers in a similar style.

It is hard to find trainers/sneakers that you like in SL. When I was browsing through the Ducknipple blog, I saw the Harry skateshoes. These are available as individual pairs (8 in all) or as a fatpack. What really caught my eye, is the simplicity of the design of the trainers. They look like they should be very comfortable, and they are! Very comfortable. A good thing given I do a fair amount of exploring round SL.

Mischief & Ibizarre

Hi there!!!

I have a nice new outfit in SL at the moment, made from items brought at yet more new-to-me stores… This time it is Mischief and Ibizarre.

As it is now bitterly cold, I am buying some nice knitwear to keep me toasty warm and cosy. I popped along to Ibizarre to check out the store, as I always do, and on the new releases board were this cute little top and knitted jacket. They looked good together, so I brought them there & then.

I have been mixing them up with various jeans I have in my ever growing SL wardrobe…. My other half will soon start complaining that I’m taking all the space up in the wardrobe at our place… Oh well, such is the life of a fashionista, LOL.

I have currently paired the top & jacket up with a pair of cords from Mischief.

Yesterday I got a notecard from Cupcakes…. They have moved to their own sim, and to celebrate the move, they are doing a hunt…. 29 giftwrapped parcels hidden in the Cupcakes mainstore and around the sim. I have found 27 of the 29 parcels, not bad for the second hunt I have done . But BEWARE THE LAG, I tp’d over to the sim, and soon I was lagging like crazy….Everyone who likes Cupcakes seemed to be there, and it was the same today.

Double Dose of Casual

Hey there !!!

Thought I would introduce something new to the blog….. First of all, a new layout – clean, crisp & easier to read the text. Second, a new feature called Double Dose, where I will be showcasing some of the fabulous fashions out on the grid from some of the great fashion designers.

So for the first Double Dose, I have 2 outfits made up of separates from shops that I had not heard of or been to before. I sort of discovered their existence on the blogs.

Casual Chic

The first outfit is a combination of items from Somapop and L’Abel.
I found L’Abel whilst looking for retro-styled clothing, and found this lovely Nelka top. What I really love about this top is the high-waisted design and the combination of textures used, the velvet on the high waistband and cuffs juxtaposed with the metallic grey fabric of the blouse.

I came across these jeans from Somapop on Evie’s blog. I love the details on the waistband and the use of coloured patches as the back pockets and leg cuffs, giving a nice contrast to the blue denim.

Bonfire Casual

For all my readers who do not live in the UK, on November 5th every year we have Guy Fawkes Night (commonly known as Bonfire Night).

It marks the downfall of the Gunpowder Plot of 5 November 1605, in which a number of Catholic conspirators, including Guy Fawkes, attempted to destroy the Houses of Parliament, in London, United Kingdom. Festivities are centred on the use of fireworks and the lighting of bonfires.

Although the rain held off on Bonfire Night itself, it was still pretty cold. I found the skirt and cardigan at a new-to-me store, Anuenue. I love woollen sweaters & cardigans, but in RL wool can, somtimes, make me itch . What I really love about this cardigan is the detailing on  the hems, it really sets the grey off nicely.
